Proud

winter nature photography winter nature photography winter nature photography Some photos I took a couple of weeks ago. I love how I was able to find some color amidst all the white & grey that's in Northern Ontario! It's been about -30 every single day here in the last few days so I've been having a hard time grabbing my camera or feeling creative in general. If you've noticed, I re-added all my blog posts & photos since I started my blog again. I felt sad that I made all of my beginner photos private.. it sort of made me feel like a phony. I was a beginner once (heck! I'm still a beginner!) and I want to showcase my photographic journey through this blog. I want to be able to look back & I want my readers to be able to look back as well at how far I've come. I'm really proud of my photography as well as my whole journey along the way! While there may be some layout changes etc in the future of this blog, my beginner photos aren't going anywhere!

Lighthouse on Lake Superior

lighthouse lake superior thunder bay

I've taken many photos of the lighthouse on Lake Superior, just steps away from where I live but none of my photos have turned out quite like this one. This was taken with my zoom lens and the image quality I managed to capture surprised me. I was so used to zooming in with Nikon Coolpix P500 and losing astounding image quality that when I snapped this beauty I fell in love. I can't wait to use my zoom lens more often. :)

Eagle Eyes

Eagle Bird Photography

I feel like this photo could have been so much better if I had a bit more room to maneuver. I was blocked by a snow bank in -40 temperatures so I couldn't get much closer. This was taken with my zoom lens, but I feel the image could be much more crisp if I could have angled myself differently so there wasn't such harsh sunlight shining on this little guy. Oh, the things I learn each time I go out and take a picture. It's so much fun.. seriously my favorite thing in the world.

Winter, Cold & Nature

winter plant nature

I really love how the sun reflects on this cold withering plant. It gives it a very "early morning" look even though it was taken at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. On a side note, I'm very ready for Spring to start. I've had enough of this cold weather! I remember talking about this last year all the time on my blog. I definitely need some inspiration during Winter when it comes to my Photography. The big difference between last year & this year is I have a couple of photo shoots lined up so that's what's keeping me creative this winter season. Regardless, Spring & Summer are so much more fun!

My cat, Minni. The lighting in this photo is my favorite part.
This was taken as the sun was coming up and shining through my livingroom window.

Intentionally Out of Focus

love kiss photography

This photo came out blurry which at the time, was unintentional. However, upon uploading, I fell in love with the image. I feel the out of focus aspects of the photo gives it a more creative feel.

Deep in Thought

I love this photo so much that I snapped of my friend Tamara when she was in town the other day. To me, the photo tells a deep story. What could she be thinking about?

A Fresh Start

drieduprose winterleaves winterplants
So you may have noticed that I removed all of my photos except for the cute little photo of Ned you see below. I'm considering this a fresh start with my camera. I've learned a lot since I got my new SLR about proper exposure techniques etc and after looking back at some of my previous photos, I just don't feel happy with them. Mind you, I'll probably make some available as I go through them more thoroughly and re-post the ones that I'm proud of but I'm not sure when I'll have time to do. Starting in 2014, I have many goals for myself regarding photography so I only want to post my best & favorite photos that I take. I really like the above photos because of the color & detail involved. Also, do you know how hard it is to find a dried up rose?! I couldn't let that pass me by! So anyway, I'm considering my new posts a fresh start for my photography. Be on the lookout for major changes in my blog/photography portfolio in 2014. I have many plans! Also, any tips on how to keep your photos very large (seen above) while still being able to view the entire vertical image on my blog without having to scroll down to see the whole thing? I can't seem to figure this out but I love the idea of the big photos that I have right now. (HTML question).

Ned

Ned the Kitten

I really couldn't help but post this even though I didn't take it. John took this photo and I'm so in love with it. This is my cat Ned doing what he does best...laying around. My favorite part of this photo (besides my little man, of course!) is the bokeh in the background one of my favorite parts about my new lens. I thought I'd incorporate a little bit of my personal life in this post :) Great job on the photo too by the way John!

Start of 2014

I began 2014 the way I intend to spend it all year, with a camera in my hand.

Bald Eagle

I was ecstatic when I saw these eagles flying around today considering I've only ever seen them high, high up in the sky circling the air. So amazing.

On a side note, Happy New Year everyone :)!
I definitely have many photography goals for 2014 and I couldn't be more excited. As always, thanks for following along.
