Feels like Fall

I know these photos don't scream "Autumn" but the way I feel totally does!!
Autumn is probably my favorite season and Summer comes in a close second. I'm from Northern Ontario so our Winters are long & grueling (see almost every blog post I've ever done in the Winter of me complaining about how cold and snowy it was). You can imagine how excited I get when the weather starts to warm up, the flowers start to bloom & trips to the lake become more and more frequent. I get giddy inside when it starts to warm up and summer is here.. it's like I'm living a different life. Sadly, all good things must come to an end but after Summer comes Fall-- my favorite season! There's something about fall that also makes me feel happy and warm inside. Maybe it's the fact that it's my birthday in October or that Thanksgiving and Halloween are in the same month? I love the colored leaves & the warm pumpkin spice lattes. Even the crisp feeling in the air makes me feel all too bubbly! So yes, even though summer must close, I welcome Fall with open arms and I'm happy with winter until after New Years (like most people). Then I just feel grumpy until late Spring. Lol!!

Today, in particular, feels like a true autumn day. I have homemade pasta sauce cooking on the stove for when my family comes over for dinner and the smell it's giving off is delicious. The air is a little chilly which requires an oversized comfy sweater, and my house is clean. I'm enjoying my time off today doing things that make me happy on this lovely (almost) fall day.

Hope your day is going well too! Thanks for reading.

Groundhog & a Caterpillar

What an incredibly lazy Sunday I've had.
I went out last night for the first time in a very long time so you can see why today I don't have as much energy as I normally do. Whoops. Today was spent watching a lot of Parenthood and looking up recipes. I've found a new spark lately with creating different dishes which is something that I lost for a very long time so I'm super excited. I've made all sorts of weird food lately!

Just a little over 2 weeks until my trip to Nova Scotia!! We know a bit of our itinerary - we are staying in Cape Breton for 2 nights and travelling the Cabot Trail. From there, we are heading to downtown Halifax to explore the city and eat lots & lots of delicious food.

Hope you're having an excellent Sunday Funday!

Flowers & Creepy Bee

How creepy is that bee in the last photo? John & I had no idea what type of bee that was but there was no way I was getting any closer than my zoom would allow me! Ha.

Gosh, does it feel good to take pics again! I hope I keep this up. I have days off for once in my life coming up so I'm sure I'll be busting out the camera more often.

Tonight is such a perfect evening. I made a delish beef roast dinner with tons of veggies and now I'm having a glass of vino while editing some photos. Pretty soon, I'll play a bit of my new video game (nerd alert?!) and then probably watch Parenthood before bed. Can't complain!

First Photo in a While...

Isn't that little bee cute? I can't believe they are becoming endangered? Is that true or did I just make myself sound like an idiot? Regardless, I love bumblebees.

Wow. It's definitely been a long time since I managed to snap a good photo. I've worked almost everyday this summer and then the days I've had off, I've been out at the lake. I've had a really amazing summer. So many great things have happened like my friend Lindsay's wedding, so much time spent with family & friends, trip planning for my upcoming vacay to Halifax, NS, and so much more! Last summer, I really didn't get to do too much but this summer has been so different. I've loved every minute of it.

It is sad though that I managed to put my photography on a shelf while I was out livin' it up, but sometimes that's just what happens. Anyway, I had a day off today so I managed to go out and take some photos of pretty flowers and some bees. Very generic stuff but they are pretty photos. I will post my photos gradually in the days to come.

I hope everyone has been having the most amazing summer. I sure have!

Update.

Wow am I ever a bad photographer/blogger. It's definitely been a while and it's funny because I actually have photos on my camera that need some editing done.
Honestly, life has really taken it's toll lately but in the best way possible. I've been super lucky with time off at work which means a lot of time spent camping with family & friends. I was upset last year when I couldn't go camping & fishing with my dad which is a yearly tradition but this year I made sure I was able to go and I was so glad I did. It was such a fun time. I also spent Canada Day weekend out at the lake with some friends. I feel like life has been a great big vacation lately and it's finally time to get back to real life which I'm looking forward to. With real life brings picture taking & editing (finally), cooking normal meals again, hitting the gym (necessary) and also a lot of shifts at work. I'm excited for things to start getting back to normal -- I never thought of myself as a girl who likes routine until now when I find myself craving it after a couple weeks  of living the good life!

On a side note, I want to write down some things I'm appreciating lately just to put my head in the right perspective! Have a great day.

  • grocery shopping and a stocked up fridge
  • sunday meal planning
  • being able to hear Great Big Sea play at the waterfront from my bedroom (this is happening as I type this and it's making me smile from ear to ear)! I didn't get tickets to bluesfest and Great Big Sea is the one band I wanted to see so I'm one happy camper that I get to at least listen to them.
  • coming home to my kitties greeting me at the door
  • clean tabletops
  • juice :)
  • coffee change lying around the house
  • time spent with friends
  • caesers.

Facebook Page!

Hello Little Maple Leaf readers!
I'd just like to take a moment to thank all of you who come here and support my photography.
It's a serious passion of mine and as much as I love taking the photos, I also love sharing them!

I finally felt confident enough to create a facebook page for my photography. I feel I have a strong portfolio and even though I didn't put up every picture I've ever taken, I put up my favorites on the new facebook page.

If you have a minute, I'd really appreciate if you'd head on over to the page and hit "like" to show your support!
Love love love!

Pink & White Flowers

These beautiful flowers came from John's family when we had them over for dinner last week! I finally got around to snapping some photos of them. They're so beautiful and have lasted a long time without dying! I love flowers like that :).

I have to work this evening but so far I've had the most relaxing day. I woke up and made some egg white omelettes for John & I and sipped on some coffee. Now we're headed out for a run. It seems that lately I've been working a lot of later shifts so I've just been sort of living the good life. Waking up when I want, drinking lots of coffee & indulging in plenty of exercise!

What are you up to this weekend?!
