Fall is Coming to a Close

The only word I can use to describe Autumn coming to an end is "bittersweet". Not only is it my favorite season but it's also incredibly photogenic. The colors compliment my lens in a way that no other season can compare to. The oranges, the yellows, the greens, the golds... I can't help but breathe a sense of fresh air when taking it all in. I was glad to take my camera on this road trip so we can stop and breathe in the warm and comforting season of Fall.

Now that Winter is soon approaching, I know my motivation will decline to almost non-existent. How negative right? I don't mean to be that way but my true passion is nature photography and sadly, in Northwestern Ontario, the Winters are far too frigid to spend lengthy amounts of time outside and it's certainly not the most appealing of seasons to the eye (with the exception of a fresh snowfall).  However, with Winter, I hope to incorporate more portrait sessions like I did last season in order to not only keep up with my craft, but also to find motivation in my photography (and also to build up my portfolio).

My day job remains a technical position, so to speak, so I have to remind myself that while that job "pays the bills," I'm lucky to have found my true passion and my hobby - photography.

Sometimes, when I'm watching a TV show (something I do often), I always somehow get convinced that I should educate myself and find employment in whatever it is that the characters are doing (I know that sounds silly). I somehow forget that I've found my true calling in life and need to educate myself in the fascinating world of photography.

Something I'm thinking of doing is incorporating a little project on this blog of mine - taking the things I want to learn most about photography and making it into some sort of a series. For example - lighting. I really need to learn more about lighting. I find that's the topic I struggle most in.

More on that later! Have a great weekend :)

At the Cabin Part III

This is probably my favorite batch of photos (especially the last one).
It reminds me of all things summer stands for: water, flowers, docks, boat launchers, "sun kissed" skin (however mine are still very pasty... I'm working on it).
To me, summer brings happiness! It's my all time favorite season. It's the time when I see family & friends the most and it's a time where I run for the outdoors rather than hide from it. However, summer is the season where I am the least active, eat a ton of food & drink like a fish. Good thing I've been hitting the gym a ton for the past few months. Still, I'm not seeing the results I'd like. I feel really healthy although my eating habits could really use an improvement. It's difficult though.. I love my pad thai & pizza. Oh well, can't win em all.

Summer by the Lake

Another one of my instagram photos taken from last Summer.

John's family's camp is my favorite place in this entire world. When I'm out there, I feel relaxed and at peace. It's comfortable & cozy, there's always an amazing dinner being made and not to mention a glass of wine or a Corona very close by!
Looking at this photo brings back some amazing memories and I can't wait for Spring to arrive so we can head back out there and enjoy the great outdoors {in luxury}.

I'm hoping to be able to go out to my family's camp spot this year. It's literally in the middle of nowhere but it's so quiet & calm and the fishing is great. I wasn't able to go last year because I was working at a job that didn't allow me to switch shifts very often. Last summer wasn't the greatest. But I really hope to make up for all my lost times with family this summer!

More of my professional photos will be posted back soon. I just wasn't able to get out today because of my stupid dead battery. Hopefully tomorrow! Happy Saturday!
