Food Photography: Shepard's Pie
Okay, I actually love Shepard's Pie. It's a little time consuming to make but it's delicious and I usually have everything I need on hand :) Mmm...
Anyway, this blog has been suffering a lot lately and I feel really bad about it. I'm going to try to post more because I have a ton of photos just sitting on my computer waiting to be uploaded to this little corner of the internet. :)
In the past couple of weeks, I've also done a new born shoot and a child shoot so I'm super excited about that!
More to come :)

Food Photography
Sorry everyone! I know it's been forever since I last posted but I find winter so uninspiring for photography. I hate how dull & ugly it can be outside. However, I love photographing people playing outside in the snow so at least I've been doing that here & there this winter. It's keeping me sane!
Anyway, considering I really don't like nature photography in the winter time, I've been practicing my skills in other ways.. like in food! I made these healthy (and not gonna lie, quite bland) muffins a couple weeks back and instead of eating them I ended up taking a bazillion photos of them. I loved the way this particular image turned out. I think the color contrast mixed with the interesting "stack" shape made it for an appealing photo.
How have you been spending your winter?!
Tonight, we're supposed to get 30cm of snow.. ugh. Is it summer yet? I'm longing for days spent by a lake with a cold drink in hand. Sigh.

Sometimes a Break is a Good Thing...
I'm so sorry for all the silence around here. I feel like I'm finally getting into a natural groove in my new position at work which will hopefully allow for more creativity in my personal life! I'm actually kind of glad I took a bit of a hiatus because it allowed me to do a lot of thinking when it comes to my photography. I found that when I first got my new camera for Christmas, all my views as a photographer changed. I felt as though I needed to delete all my previous photos from this blog because "they weren't good enough" among other things. Focusing on this particular thought though, as you may have noticed I've added all my photos back since I started this blog. The reason being, this was all a learning experience for me just like it might be to somebody else who perhaps reads this blog. I'm still just a beginner myself but at the same time have come a long, long way since I first picked up a decent camera. I've learned more about the technical aspects of photography, proper composition & exposure, what it means to advertise yourself etc. I want all of that to be documented on this little space that I call my own. This is my blog, my photography blog. The first online space I've actually kept up with which really means something to me.. and I don't want all of my posts since the beginning to be hidden, that's just so sad.
At the end of the day, I want to remain true to myself & my photography and that means showing the good with the bad! Going forward, of course I'll attempt to post only my best but right now, photography is still just a hobby & I'm going to post MY favorite selections.
As usual, I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can start going outside without shivering my behind off and take some beautiful nature shots. I have some photoshoots planned for the Spring which I'm absolutely ecstatic for! And of course, I can't wait to take my usual nature shots and get a little bit more creative with them.
Until next time!

Winter Wonderland
What an amazing shoot this was! This shoot was everything I love about photography: A candid expression of love in a family.
If that makes sense?
I honestly felt like a shadow (in the best way possible) being able to catch precious moments of a couple and their dog in the most candid way possible. Nothing about this shoot felt forced it was all just natural and beautiful. This type of expression is what makes me yearn to take more family photos in a setting like this. So, so beautiful.
Thank you so much Beth, Kelly & Locke for allowing me to take your family photos. I hope you loved them as much as I did! :)
