Proud

winter nature photography winter nature photography winter nature photography Some photos I took a couple of weeks ago. I love how I was able to find some color amidst all the white & grey that's in Northern Ontario! It's been about -30 every single day here in the last few days so I've been having a hard time grabbing my camera or feeling creative in general. If you've noticed, I re-added all my blog posts & photos since I started my blog again. I felt sad that I made all of my beginner photos private.. it sort of made me feel like a phony. I was a beginner once (heck! I'm still a beginner!) and I want to showcase my photographic journey through this blog. I want to be able to look back & I want my readers to be able to look back as well at how far I've come. I'm really proud of my photography as well as my whole journey along the way! While there may be some layout changes etc in the future of this blog, my beginner photos aren't going anywhere!

Winter, Cold & Nature

winter plant nature

I really love how the sun reflects on this cold withering plant. It gives it a very "early morning" look even though it was taken at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. On a side note, I'm very ready for Spring to start. I've had enough of this cold weather! I remember talking about this last year all the time on my blog. I definitely need some inspiration during Winter when it comes to my Photography. The big difference between last year & this year is I have a couple of photo shoots lined up so that's what's keeping me creative this winter season. Regardless, Spring & Summer are so much more fun!

Start of 2014

I began 2014 the way I intend to spend it all year, with a camera in my hand.

New SLR!!!

You guys... I finally got an SLR!
So there I was, Christmas morning opening up my gifts, when I open up a Nikon D7000!!! It was so unexpected that I shed a tear or two. After all, I really wasn't expecting to invest in one of these bad boys until the Spring. John really surprised me and I couldn't be more grateful. It really is a thoughtful gift more than anything especially since he spent so much time researching what would be best for me.

I got 2 lenses today too during the amazing Boxing Day deals! So right now, I have a 50mm 1.8d & a 70-300mm VR and I'm so pumped up about each of them.

John came with me today to take some photos and I am definitely still learning how to use my camera in general but we managed to get some beautiful photos. I particularly love the shot above and it's completely unedited.

I can't wait to continue using this amazing camera and seeing what types of creative projects I can come up with. Practice, Practice, Practice!

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!

East Coast Part I

Here is another batch from our East Coast Vacation!
I continued editing my photos again tonight and didn't realize the overwhelming amount that I gave 5 stars to (meaning the ones I want to edit for display purposes).
Everytime I see these photos, I feel so nostalgic. I could honestly picture myself living on the ocean.. mainly in Halifax. Such a simple but vibrant city with so much to do and see. And the food..oh the food. Way too delicious. I tried quite a bit of seafood and normally I'm not a fan so I was pretty impressed with myself.
I'm already planning our NEXT East Coast Vacation-Newfoundland! Within a few years that is...

At the Cabin Part II

Another Tuesday, another day off.
I feel like lately I have so many days off I don't even know what to do with myself.
Today's agenda: Gym (I hope), catch up on Bachelorette, and finish up the last season of the Office!
I'm also trying to figure out an italian sausage dish to throw in the crock pot that doesn't have tomato sauce in it.. hard to find, people!
Hope you have a great day.

At the Cabin Part I

The first batch of many cabin photos to come :)
It's so worth it to just take a look around at your beautiful surroundings!

Chipmunks, Wasps & Hornets

I found out some devastating news the other day that there are barely any bees out there anymore. So sad!! Bees are the one insect with a stinger that I don't run away from. They're so beautiful and I feel like all they want to do is sit on flowers and (make their pollen?) I know that bees serve great purpose.. although I'm not 100% sure of the details so I'm sad to know that there are now people pollinating instead of the bees.

Instead, we see wasps sitting on dandelions when we should be seeing bees!!! Such beautiful insects.

On a side note, today is super rainy outside and it's making me feel insanely gloomy. I just want to sit on my couch with my two little furbabies and cuddle all day. Which reminds me, Bachelorette is tonight!
